Introduction to hyperhidrosis

Hyperhidrosis is defined by excessive sweating, especially in the armpits, but it can also occur in the hands and/or chest.
Botulinum toxin effectively treats hyperhidrosis by stopping the secretion of sweat glands.

For whom? For what?

Hyperhidrosis generally affects patients aged 25 to 65 years old.
The sweat glands cover the body and produce the transparent liquid that is sweat. The body produces sweat to help control its temperature. Several triggering factors can cause the production of sweat, such as high temperatures, exercise, a state of nervousness, fear, or stress.
In people with hyperhidrosis, the amount of sweat produced is greater and causes a real handicap in daily life.
There are two different types of hyperhidrosis: generalized hyperhidrosis and localized hyperhidrosis (focal hyperhidrosis).

Generalized hyperhidrosis (or secondary hyperhidrosis) is so named because excessive sweating occurs all over the body. It is often caused by a medical condition such as an infection, a chronic condition, or a disorder that disrupts the normal hormonal balance of the body. It can also be caused by certain medical treatments.

Focal hyperhidrosis (or primary hyperhidrosis) occurs only in a part of the body, notably the armpits, soles of the feet, palms, face or other regions.

How?

Hyperhidrosis is effectively treated with botulinum toxin.
The areas to be treated will be previously determined. The doctor will treat the area(s) with micro-injections of diluted botulinum toxin. The injections are administered in the form of dermal papules so that the action takes place at the level of the skin.
Since the areas to be treated are extensive, the use of toxin is important.

For how long?

A session every six months of botulinum toxin injection will allow for long-term treatment of hyperhidrosis.

And then?

The treatment outcomes of hyperhidrosis with botulinum toxin injections are simple and without complications thanks to a perfect technique.
